About us

Darley is HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s global breeding operation which currently stands stallions in six countries around the world.

Darley America is based at the historic Jonabell Farm, located in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky and was purchased in 2001. Jonabell was founded in 1946 by renowned breeder John A. Bell III and it has occupied its present location on Bowman Mill Road since 1954.

The current roster of 17 stallions includes three of 2007's best three-year-olds anywhere in the world in Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense (who joins his sire Street Cry); King's Bishop victor and Breeders' Cup Classic second Hard Spun; and Any Given Saturday, who took the Haskell by four-and-a-half lengths. Also new for 2008 is World Champion three-year-old Discreet Cat.

World Champion Bernardini, whose first foals are now on the ground, will cover his second book of mares this year, together with top-class sprinter Henny Hughes; and Rockport Harbor.

Eclipse Champion and Eclipse Champion-siring duo Cherokee Run and Holy Bull also stand at Darley, alongside Mr. Prospector’s record-breaking son E Dubai; Storm Cat's G1-winning son - Consolidator; and Offlee Wild, winner of the G1 Suburban Handicap in 2005.

Leading sire Elusive Quality and Quiet American, who is fast establishing himself as an outstanding broodmare sire, complete the line up.

In addition to standing stallions, Darley also manages the racing interests of Sheikh Mohammed and various members of the Maktoum family, and has racehorses with various trainers in the UK, Ireland, France, the United States, Australia and Japan. The best of these horses will transfer to Godolphin, to race in the famous blue silks that have been carried to victory in numerous G1 races across the globe.
